Start-up funding environment stabilizing while global funding winter continues
  • Tech startups’ funding in India reached US$ 2.9B in Q4 CY22, up 16% Q-o-Q
  • No unicorns added in this quarter
  • Funding winter continues at a global level - down 6% Q-o-Q
Shift in deal scenario
  • 1.2X increase in Q4 late-stage deal values compared to Q3
  • Deal volume has been up 17% Q-o-Q, with a greater number of early-stage deals
  • Average deal value has remained constant in Q4 CY22 over Q3 CY22
Vertical trend analysis
  • FinTech and RetailTech were the top sectors in Q4 CY22 attracting ~38% of total funding
  • RetailTech sector grew 8X as compared to Q3 CY22 in funding
  • Lending & Collection micro-vertical (under FinTech) funding grew by 83% y-o-y
Other Key Trends
  • B2B tech start-ups funding in Q4 CY22 has increased to ~52% from ~41% in Q3 CY22
  • Lower ticket size deals (<US$ 25M) increased Q-o-Q from 188 to 225 in Q4CY22
  • DPIIT’s initiatives for start-up investment ecosystem – MAARG portal for onboarding start-ups
