The Indian Tech Industry – COVID-19 Resilience Practices study presents a collation of best practices that the Indian Tech companies have employed to ride through the COVID-19 induced global crisis. NASSCOM and IDC jointly interviewed several industry partners, leaders, and heads of resilience “war rooms” to learn from the real-time strategies around BCP planning, global/local communication, services delivery and efficient work-from-home that proved critical in helping respond with agility and resilience.

Key Findings

Indian IT industry has shown phenomenal resilience in ensuring continuity of critical services to clients while ensuring employee safety
Organizations with robust BCP/DR plans, practiced during BAU, specifically with flexible work-from-home approaches, responded seamlessly

Multiple functions coordinated activities, planning, real-time monitoring, and execution through 24x7 resilience “war rooms”
Employee traceability, travel advisories, and facility hygiene management and enabling secure work-from-home formed the core response strategy

Most companies prefer a phased back-to-office strategy, in line with local regulations, client needs, and employee safety considerations
Work-from-home strategies for a more sustainable, blended working model will be actively looked into as a way to manage safety with flexibility

Communicate, and, over-communicate, with the extended stakeholder network to establish transparency, trust, and real-time response prioritization
Continuously plan for the future with a multi-scenario approach to strengthen organizational agility to respond to a crisis – an opportunity only a crisis can offer
