Over the last few decades, India has made significant advancements in the way healthcare is delivered in the country. The sector, being one of the biggest by employment and revenue, has been growing at a brisk pace. According to pre-COVID estimates, the sector is expected to increase three-fold to INR 8.6 trillion by 2022. India’s public expenditure on healthcare stood at 1.2% as a percentage of the GDP in Budget 2021. Indian Healthcare sector continues to grow on the back of the increased pace of digitization in response to COVID-19 impacts and due to its favorable government policies. This article provides a brief overview of the state of Indian healthcare sector, tech-enabled solutions that eradicated COVID-19 challenges with use cases examples, digital technologies that are driving the Healthcare transformation agenda and the road ahead.
