The use of AI in India has grown exponentially in India in the last few years and the global pandemic has added to the increased pace of adoption. The use of AI is slowly gaining momentum in all industries ranging from BFSI to healthcare, manufacturing, education, retail, communication, energy and utilities and others. In fact, AI is expected to raise India’s annual growth rate by 1.3% by 2035. The benefits of deploying AI in enterprises has increased the need for AI solutions which has resulted in the emergence of multiple start-ups in the country. In fact, India’s AI ecosystem is one of the most vibrant across the globe and hence India is emerging as a key destination for AI innovation.
Realizing the tremendous potential that the AI ecosystem offers to the Indian economy and the innovative solutions that the start-ups are providing, NASSCOM started the AI Gamechangers award in 2021 to recognize innovative and impactful solutions on a national platform. In addition to this, AI Gamechangers was conceptualised to seed awareness and enthusiasm around this wonderful technology and encourage others to emulate the successes in the ecosystem.
In this second edition of AI Gamechangers, the report showcases some exception AI use-cases across 16 categories that comprise of 7 sectors, 2 functions, 3 technologies and 4 themes. It also show-cases 3 research categories namely AI application, ML Fundamentals and DL Algorithms & Architecture. Out of the 300+ applications received, the shortlisted candidates have been screened further to arrive at 17 winners, 37 runners-up, 3 impactful government use-cases and 1 special mention.
