Webinar on SCOMET Category 8 and Intangible Technology Transfers

As export control related to ITT is a significant issue both for the industry and the government, this webinar is with the aim to sensitise the industry on this topic. The webinar also aims to discuss the Information Technology (IT) industry's experiences with respect to the ITT export control regime and the Global Authorisation for Intra-Company Transfer (GAICT) policy. We hope that the discussion would be useful understanding the IT industry's perspective on complying with ITT and making use of GAICT and ensuring effective enforcement of export controls.

We intend to reach out to a wide range of IT, electronics, engineering and other technology companies. The proposed webinar is aimed at making companies dealing in Category 8 items/software/technology aware about their export control obligations. We also hope that the webinar will generate interest among such companies to contribute to policy discussions on promoting innovation in India through export control regime.

In the inaugural session, we plan to release a Booklet focusing on SCOMET Category 8 and Intangible Technology Transfers. Among other things, the Booklet covers a much-needed comparison between Indian SCOMET Categorisation and US Export Control Classification Number for the most traded items, FAQs for the guidance of the industry on common issues under Category 8 as well as intangible technology transfers.

In addition to the inaugural session, there are sessions planned on the following themes:

  • Export Control System for ITT, Role of Industry and Multilateral Export Control Regimes
  • Compliance on Intangible Technology Transfers (ITT)
  • Global Authorisation for Intra-Company Transfers (GAICT)
