Diverse workplaces require us to think outside of our cultural boxes and encourage the same skills that emotional intelligence promotes. Emotional Intelligence is a key pillar of diversity and inclusion. Diversity brings a dynamic potential for creativity and energy. It also brings the possibility for discord when differences in values, background, language and approach clash. At times like these, the result can be miscommunication, conflict and diminished productivity. Emotional Intelligence is called for to channel the emotional energy that emerges order to deal with differences in a positive way. This session will share a model and tools for building the Emotional Intelligence necessary for being successful in working with the complexity and opportunity diversity brings. Participants will gain conceptual information and practical tools for effective communication across differences, and for building environments of collaboration and inclusion.
