e-Tendering / e-Procurement is a process of procuring the items (Goods, Works & Services) electronically using the internet. Over a period of time, it has been mandated that all items above a certain limit (Rs.50,000 to Rs.3,00,000 depending on states) have to be compulsorily procured by Governments through e-Tendering.
This session provides the foundation for electronic procurement and meant for those companies working on Government Tenders.
Especially for SME's, the following are the advantages they get in e-Tendering:
As Seller (depending on State rules)
- Exemptions in Document Fees & Security Deposits / EMD if they are MSME registered
- Reservations to SME's at 20%
- Price Match Facility - In a tender, participating MSEs quoting price within the band of L1+15% shall also be allowed to supply a portion of the requirement by bringing down their price to L1 price in a situation where L1 price is from someone other than an MSE. Such MSEs shall be allowed to supply at least 20% of total tendered value. In case of more than one such MSE, the supply will be shared proportionately (to tendered quantity).
As Buyer:
- They can float tenders/auctions and get suppliers all over India
- A fully transparent system following procurement rules
- Need not buy licenses. Can use the system by paying per transaction cost / per tender
