Basic Functions/ Job Responsibility

Core Research Responsibilities: 

  • Defining Research Methodology
    • In-depth secondary research for industry/market/company/trend analysis, market sizing, landscape analysis, benchmarking assessments, competitive analysis, etc.
    • Primary research using surveys – survey design, modelling, administration, data collation, data analysis, and insights reporting
    • In-depth leadership interviews as part of the project, and/or, conducting high-visibility and high-impact roundtables and webinars
    • Quantitative and qualitative research and analysis, insights aggregation, scenario-based/econometric modelling, country analysis, etc.
  • Driving Content Creation and Design
    • Creation of research deliverables in MS Word, MS Powerpoint, Excel spreadsheets, etc.
    • Primary formats – large-format reports, whitepapers, point-of-views (PoVs), executive summaries, media presentations, process maps, infographics, and short-form social media ready content, etc.
    • High-impact business writing for consumption by a diverse set of readers spanning corporate leadership, government stakeholders, students/academia, startups, investors, advisory firms, analyst relations organizations, corporate communications departments, print, digital and social media, and others
    • Creation and expansion of databases from information on industry/market/companies/trends in excel
  • Having Tech and Domain Knowledge
    • In depth unddrstanding of Tech industry in India and its core segments of IT services, Business process management (BPM), Software products companies, engineering and R&D companies (ER&D), global capability centers (GCCs), etc., including the spectrum of large Indian companies, SMEs, start-ups and MNC firms
    • In-depth analysis of digital transformation imperatives of non-tech sectors – digital technology roadmaps, adoption scenarios, value-chain analysis, use cases, growth strategies, country-level maturity analysis, thought leadership perspectives, growth opportunities for Indian Tech sector, etc.
    • Focus on new-age digital-native business models and their evolving landscape – fintech, retailtech, edtech, deeptech, etc. 
    • Understanding of emerging tech- AI, Gen AI, cybersecurity, IoT, cloud etc.
  • Project Management
    • Liaison with external vendors and manage third party projects, including storyboarding, leading interviews, cadence calls and entire project review. 

Research-Led Engagements, Outreach, and Partnerships

  • Emerge as the lead analyst and SME in assigned areas of research within NASSCOM and outside, in public forums in representing the NASSCOM perspective
  • Focus on building own network of go-to connects for thought leadership engagements
  • Actively contribute to blog writing, PoVs, and social media engagements in areas and topics of mutual importance

Capability-Building Activities

  • Work closely with Research leaders in the team on all industry issues requiring research support.
  • Build domain expertise about the Tech sector (services, players etc.).
  • Actively contribute to the development of thought leadership and collaboration across other teams at NASSCOM.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

  • An MBA/master’s degree in business management, statistics, economics. 
  • 5-10 years of prior experience in technology and business research and consulting.
  • Ability to develop “hypotheses” based problem solving approach.
  • Familiarity with strategic analysis frameworks and financial analyses techniques to be deployed for analyses of the industry as a whole and companies in particular.
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of major proprietary research databases.
  • Excellent working skills with Microsoft Office tools, especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience with creative representation of insights and effective story-telling, along with public speaking capabilities.
  • Digital marketing experience and understanding of research dissemination.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Should be open to travel (20% of time) for stakeholder consultations, and Nasscom events.
