Union Budget 2016-17 Implications on IT/ITeS industry

With substantial expectations riding on the second full Union Budget to be introduced by the NDA Government, we invite you to an interactive session with our knowledge partner BMR & Associates LLP, on the Union Budget 2016-17 and its implications on the IT/ ITeS sector in India.

The IT/ ITeS sector has been facing multiple challenges for the years, some of which, continue to be unresolved. These challenges range are being faced on various levels; eg:

MAT on SEZ units

  • Clarity on the APA rollback provisions and safe harbour rules,
  • Thresholds for taxing indirect transfers
  • Continued lock in for service tax refunds
  • Input credit restrictions and continued disputes
  • Incentives under the Foreign Trade Policy & exiting STP unit status
  • A quantum shift in the tax model & compliance obligations under GST

The sector is currently grappling with the right outlook to deal with such direct and indirect tax related matters which need a deeper level of support.  Given this, the industry as a whole has built up expectations from this Government to provide relief with the overall objective of improving the ease of doing business and bring a higher degree of certainty to tax matters.

To gain a better understanding of the key aspects of the Direct tax and Indirect tax proposals and how it effects the IT/ ITeS sector, we look forward to your active participation.
