  • How to participate in FIDNOVATE?

    Here are the steps you need to follow to participate:

    1. 1. Share your expression of interest in the website, register yourself, and your fellow team members
    2. 2. Join us for the Reverse Pitch event on November 11th
    3. 3. Finally, share your approach note on or before the deadline of 29th Nov in the prescribed template
  • Is there a registration fee for the Event?

    No. The registration for the event is free.

  • Who can participate in this event? Are there any prerequisites?

    To participate, you should be an employee of a company and you must use your organization’s business email in order to register. Individual participants are not allowed. You must register as a team along with your fellow team members.

  • What is the minimum and the maximum number of members in a team allowed?

    A minimum of two and a maximum of six members can participate. The team members must be from the same organization.

  • Will there be any travelling involved?

    No. This is a virtual event.

  • Is there a single Point of Contact in each team? Who will nominate that person?

    Each team is required to nominate a Point of Contact (POC) to whom all communications shall be addressed to. The POC must be a working member of the team and at no point shall leave the team without prior intimation to the organisers. For further details in this regard, please get in touch with us.

  • What is the objective to FIDNOVATE? Are there any stretch goals?

    Please refer to the problem-statement section available in the FIDNOVATE website.

  • Whom do I contact in case of doubts or clarifications?

  • Can members in the team change after the submission of approach note?

    A change in team will require a substantial reason, and can be done once on exceptional basis, post consultation with the organizing team at Fidelity and NASSCOM.

  • What are the major milestones with planned start and completion dates?

    From the date of launch, you will have four weeks to submit your approach note. The teams qualifying for the next round will have ten weeks to build the AI model solution to the problem statement. There will be a midpoint check-in by the Core Team to get a sense of the progress made.

  • If my approach note doesn’t qualify to the second round, will I be able to join a team which has qualified for the second round?

    No. You can be a part of a single team only.

  • What do I need to include in the approach note?

    We will share a template with the selected participants. The participants will be required to use the template shared to capture information points to outline their approach.

  • What are the evaluation criteria for qualifying the approach notes and the final solutions?

    There will be a panel of judges for evaluating the approach note the finale submission. While the information pointers outlined in the approach note template will form the basis, the evaluation criteria will be shared separately at the time of Reverse Pitch event.
    All shortlisted teams will then be contacted by the organisers and further details on the main event will be shared. The final solution will have both quantitative and qualitative metrics as a part of the selection criteria. Evaluation criteria will be shared

  • Can we submit multiple approaches /ideas/options in our approach note?

    Yes, your approach note can include any number of options, but there can be only one file uploaded.

  • Problem statement states that we need to consider all the companies listed in the four major US Stock Exchanges – should we include all companies? Should companies be excluded if they were listed recently? What is the most recent date by which a company should listed in any of the Exchange?

    For training the model, include companies listed on or before December 31, 2017, in any of the stock exchanges - NYSE, NASDAQ, S&P500, DJIA. Alternatively, if you feel strongly about your approach, feel free to specify it in your Approach note outline and we will be more than happy to listen and understand from you.

  • How do we submit my approach note and my final solution?

    We are working on the approach and will inform on the process of sharing / uploading the solutions. More details to follow.

  • How many companies are to be considered in total?

    This is at the prerogative of the participants.

  • If the proprietary or subscription-based access / data related to the problem statement is to be procured will FIDNOVATE organizers reimburse the cost incurred?

    No, the cost for accessing such data will have to be borne by the participants. No costs incurred by the participants for FIDNOVATE, will be eligible for reimbursement.

  • The event rules state that only credible sources of data are to be procured. What are the guidelines to identify whether a source of data is credible?

    Any publicly available or subscription-based data can be used to solve the problem at hand. The data used should be from a credible and reputable source and should be reproducible at any point of time of model evaluation. All data sources must be mentioned in the approach notes as well as in the final solution document.

  • What are the programming languages that can be used for the algorithm defining purpose?

    You can use any programming language and recognized software that you are comfortable with. Please mention in the approach note about the programming language and software you intend to use.

  • Where should the models be built? For example, on Cloud, personal laptops etc.?

    Participants can use any platform to build their model. Local desktops/laptops, company HVD/VPN/Virtual Desktop, Cloud Platforms. But to qualify for final evaluation, you must be able to upload the codes on the platform created by the organizing team. So, plan accordingly based on your company’s protocols and firewall permissions.

  • Do we need to document the assumptions?

    Yes. Please state the assumptions that are followed throughout the different phases of the model.

  • What is the period shall we consider for building the dataset?

    This will be a participant’s prerogative

  • Does the entire ML algorithm have to be fully working?

    Yes, the algorithm will have to be submitted in fully working module.

  • Are we expected to build a prototype?

    A prototype is not a mandated output but will be a good-to-have from a finale showcase perspective.

  • What happens when a team win? Who owns the work and IP?

    Please refer to the T&C

  • How will the finale presentations and teams be judged?

    The FIDNOVET judging panel will verify the outcomes based on the criteria and the presentation made during the Finale to adjudicate the winners. The evaluation criteria will be shared before-hand.

  • What will the final presentation include?

    Framework you followed to solve the problem statement, uniqueness of your approach, outcomes of your algorithm along with the performance metrics.

  • Who will be judging?

    The panel will comprise of Senior Leaders & SMEs from Fidelity Investments India and NASSCOM

  • Will there be prizes?

    Yes. Please refer to the prize money section of the FIDNOVATE website
