NASSCOM :Cybersecurity – Today, Tomorrow and Day After | Date: December 11th, 2020 | Time: 2:00 pm - 4:10 pm
The global cyber threat landscape continues to evolve at a rapid pace. The number and type of cyberattacks is only increasing each year. Ever-more sophisticated cyberattacks involving malware, phishing, AI/ML, cryptocurrency and more, have placed the data and assets of corporations, governments and individuals at constant risk. The COVID-19 pandemic and the forced digitization that followed, resulted in cybersecurity taking a backseat in many organizations. Employees also were distracted by concerns around their personal and family health. Cyber criminals on the other hand became more active, targeting remote workers and organizations vehemently to exploit any vulnerability they can detect and crack. While some sectors seemed more appealing to cybercriminals because they deal with both personal and financial data, it is evident that businesses across sectors are now more prone to cyberattacks. In fact, experts suggest that there could have been as much as a 500% increase in cyber security incidents since March this year in India alone. The introduction of emerging technologies like IOT, BYOD, 5G and quantum computing introduce new cybersecurity vulnerabilities into the landscape.
With this NASSCOM Tech Series discussion on Cybersecurity – Today, Tomorrow and Day After, we intend to explore the effects of unplanned digitization that came with COVID-19, especially the security threats introduced by remote working, and how technology has evolved to meet these and other evolving threats. We will look at the impact of emerging technologies on cybersecurity and our ability to address the consequent threats. We will also look at the role of government agencies in curbing cyber threats and evaluate how current and new policies can help build a cybersecure ecosystem where individuals and businesses can thrive.
